Yutaka Matsuo is a project associate professor at Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo. He received his Ph.D. degrees from the University of Tokyo. After working at National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and Stanford University, he joined the faculty of University of Tokyo in 2007. He served as Editor-in-chief at Japan Society for Artificial Intelligence (JSAI). He is now the chair of the ELSI committee in JSAI, and the head of planning team at AI center of AIST. His research topic is web mining and big data analysis, and he has been an evangelist of deep learning for the application to robotics and industrial machines in Japan for these three years.
